Brno museum night
A new website and mobile app for a cultural event featuring dozens of venues
Every year, Brno Museum Night connects dozens of museums, galleries, and other cultural venues across Brno. It is therefore essential for visitors to quickly get their bearings in the program, find a specific location, check practical information, and plan their evening without wasting time searching. Our task was to deliver a new website and mobile app within a short timeframe that would make this extensive content accessible quickly and clearly.
The services we provided
Efficient architecture with a centralized CMS
We built the solution using a combination of WordPress, REST API, and React Native. WordPress serves as the central content management system; the website pulls data directly from it, and the mobile app retrieves it via the API. As a result, the program, participating locations, map, and practical information are all managed in one place and displayed consistently on both the website and the app.
Delivered on time for the event
The main challenge was the fixed deadline. For an event of this type, there is no room for lengthy fine-tuning after launch—the digital solution must be ready on time and functioning the moment visitors actually need it. That’s why we focused on a fast and practical implementation that leverages proven technologies.
A fresh new look
The website design underwent a major transformation. We’ve reimagined the visual design—which changes every year—in a modern and attractive way that reflects the scale and character of the event. When designing the user experience, we also emphasized maximum clarity on mobile devices—we simplified navigation and enlarged the controls for comfortable use on the go.
Mobile app
We built the mobile app using React Native. Thanks to a single shared codebase, we didn’t have to develop separate solutions for each operating system, which significantly sped up development and simplified ongoing maintenance.
Fast and reliable performance
Part of our work also involved optimizing data loading. The program included 52 participating venues, including 7 galleries, 18 museums, and 27 other cultural institutions. Therefore, it was necessary to display information quickly and reliably both on the website and in the mobile app. The result is a solution that simplifies content management for organizers and makes it easier for visitors to navigate the program.
Key features:
Event Program at a Glance
Visitors have access to an overview of participating venues and program items, including detailed information. This allows them to quickly find out what’s happening where and what the Brno Museum Night has to offer.
Map of Participating Sites
The solution includes a map of Brno showing participating sites organized by category. This allows visitors to better navigate the locations of individual museums, galleries, and other sites.
Transport options and timetables
Both the website and the app provide practical information about the event, including public transport timetables, helping visitors plan how to get to participating venues.
For Brno Museum Night, we delivered a solution within a short timeframe that streamlined content management, made the program available both on the website and in the app, and provided the organizers with a practical way to review and publish information about individual venues. The website recorded a total of around 16,000 visits.
A few words from client
I rate our collaboration extremely highly and I can recommend DigiLabs without hesitation. In fact, I regularly recommend them whenever someone around me is dealing with a website or application-related challenge.
What I appreciated most was their willingness to help, reliability and approach to solving problems. We started working on the website relatively late in the process, yet they responded almost immediately and were able to coordinate everything with us so that the project was completed on time. From the very beginning, their role went far beyond simply building the website. They actively advised us on how things could be done better, worked independently and were a major source of support throughout the entire project.
Communication was also very important to me. Whenever a problem came up, they were available even in the evenings or at weekends. I never felt that I was left to deal with an issue on my own. On the contrary, I always had the impression that they genuinely cared about the outcome and that finding a solution was simply part of their approach. I honestly cannot think of a problem that we did not eventually manage to solve.
The website and mobile application also proved themselves directly on the day of the event. According to our statistics, we saw an increase in website traffic as well as the number of app downloads, while everything remained clear and easy to use for visitors. Over time, visitors became familiar with the app and started using it naturally as part of the overall event experience.
I would therefore describe the entire collaboration as very pleasant and, above all, reliable. I value not only the final website and application, but especially the approach of the whole team – their willingness to advise us, respond quickly and see things through to completion. If I were working on a similar project again, I would definitely turn to DigiLabs again.
